Topic 4-

1. Federal Emergency Management Agency, Flood Map Service Center, https://msc.fema.gov/portal. Entering an address, place, or set of latitudinal and longitudinal DD coordinates on the Flood Map Service Center page will generate search results known as flood insurance rate maps (FIRMs), also known as panels for the area of interest. Each panel is numbered using eleven alphanumeric digits and is assigned an effective date. The FEMA site allows you to view and print the maps, and select maps can be saved or opened as interactive maps. It is important to note that many areas in the US have no documented flood zones. No flood map is available for these areas. Reviewing documented flood zones in a search area provides insight into locations not to consider for cell site development, at least without special site planning to accommodate for the potential high-water hazard.

2. US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Wetlands Mapper, https://www.fws
.gov/wetlands/Data/Mapper.HTML. Entering a street address, city, place, or set of latitudinal and longitudinal DD coordinates into the inventory database of the National Wetlands Mapper will generate an interactive map for an area of interest. The screen view may be expanded or reduced. The legend explains different bodies of water. While other sources display surface bodies of water, such as satellite images and USGS topography maps, the USFWS is the official source of information on wetlands. Confirming wetlands in a search area assists in identifying areas not to consider for cell site development.
