This website is intended for the purpose to educate and train, and to facilitate
mentoring and coaching for entry-level to management personnel in wireless
facility site development projects.
In thirty-seven years since the first cell phone call, a transformation of virtually
every aspect of civilization has taken place, from the physical assimilation of
hundreds of thousands of cell sites into the landscape of our cities, country,
towns, villages, hamlets, airports, convention centers, class ‘A’ office buildings,
malls, sports arenas, college campuses, industrial parks, highways, ranches,
national forests, and agricultural fields to the convergence of technologies to
provide specialized services using smartphones and machines. Smartphones
are used to send and receive electronic mail, take and transmit color photos
and live video, play movies and live sports, manage time, browse the internet,
and operate as remote controls, flashlights, alarm clocks, calendars, compasses,
stopwatches, automated bank tellers, and, occasionally, for talk. Millions of
applications have been developed to take advantage of the computing and
communications power of smartphones around the world.
The economies of the world are currently on the precipice of an unprecedented
explosion in the demand for wireless system capacity. While fifth-generation (5G)
wireless technology in the form of ‘small cells’ is reducing the size of associated
equipment required at antenna sites using increasing radio frequency options,
it is hastening a dramatic increase in the number of cell sites around the world.
This is only being made possible through a massive coinciding implementation
of fiber optic transport systems to connect small cells with network operations.
Rules and regulations for siting wireless facilities are in a state-of-transition.
This training provides a comprehensive updated view of the past, present, and
future factors and trends influencing how wireless facilities are developed. It is
the only offering of its kind, an indispensable education for novices to the site
acquisition discipline, and an ongoing invaluable resource for experienced
practitioners.
The Firmly Anchored in Midair(sm) Wireless Site Acquisition and Permitting
online training course is designed to enable the participant to demonstrate or to
achieve competence toward certification in each of seven progressively intensive
roles relative to this career activity. Achievement of the designation for each role
requires completion of one or more courses.
Below is a list of certificate training levels regarding wireless site development,
as well as further detail about specific courses required to achieve competence
at each certificate level. These courses are being finalized for a proposed launch
in February 2021.
As available (within each category of certificate training), courses can be found
by clicking the name (below) of each given online category of certificate training.
